Application suggestion:
At the beginning of the day some teachers assign tasks for students to complete. These tasks normally include writing the date
on the board and doing some house cleaning jobs like feeding the class pet. During this time most of the students read silently.
If I was teaching Grade 3-6, I would select two students each day to find an interesting news article and report it to the class. This
would be a great activity because if promotes literacy in an engaging manner, it encourages students to speak in front of their
classmates and allows students to get to know each others interests.
